Marilyn had a 'thing' about her chin and was quoted as saying that that was why she was always photographed with her mouth open. You've captured that determination and insecurity very well, along with her eye make-up.
To go out in disguise Marilyn would dress down, put her hair in a pony-tail and walk around with her mouth closed. As it was not a 'face' or expression people associated with 'Marilyn' she could go out and not be recognised. She said that she could turn the 'Marilyn' on and off when needed.
The make-up part is hard, I agree - it was such an integral part of the face that she showed to the public that it's both instantly recognisable and therrefore hard to replicate accurately. I think you have done a marvellous job.
thanks :3 I did not know this anecdote ! (Are you a fan?) it’s true, I saw a pic of her smiling naturally and she had a different expression (one of the first she made, she was brunette, perhaps you know it, she's sitting on the sand. I can link it to you if you're interested in it)She was considered as a sex-symbol with a gorgeous body, beautiful lips, mesmerizing eyes etc…so I guess it was easy to go back to a more “neutral”persona. It’s like Jessica Alba (I take her as an example of beauty, I don’t find she is a good actress but she’s rather pretty) she’s beautiful with make up and nice dresses but rather common with no make-up and a basic T-shirt.
